Fashion designer Rebecca Minkoff, best known for her accessible luxury handbags and accessories, was in the middle of renovating her home in Brooklyn’s Dumbo neighborhood when she came to a realization about her space: “What used to be five-to-nine turned into nine-to five,” she tells ELLE DECOR.
The only room where she could find respite from her busy day juggling work and family? Her bedroom. “It’s the one place where everything stops,” Minkoff says. “What do I want that to look and feel like?”
These musings have resulted in a brand new bedding collection as part of Rebecca Minkoff HOME—the designer’s first move into the home space. The new line consists of sheet sets, shams, duvet covers, and throw pillows and was created with durability, comfort, and style in mind.
Just like a perfect capsule wardrobe, Minkoff wanted a mixture of unique basics with a perfectly worn-in feel (“To me bedding should be soft,” the designer notes), thanks to materials such as a sustainable linen-bamboo blend and 100 percent organic cotton. No surprise, the designer also chose to incorporate some signature prints from her ready-to-wear line. Minkoff’s personal favorites? The Jacobean floral and Aztec weave prints and a solid turmeric shade.
The overall vibe is soft and bohemian, but that doesn’t mean it lacks Minkoff’s signature rocker-chic edge: “It’s the wanderlust,” Minkoff explains of her inspiration. “It’s the woman who spends her time at the beach—but goes to a concert decked out in her leather jacket.”
Everything from the Rebecca Minkoff HOME collection will be available starting this March, just in time for your spring refresh. If you want a head start, join the waitlist now.
