Fans of Ryan Murphy's psychosexual television opus American Horror Story likely have vivid memories of the Rosenheim Mansion, which served as the setting for the very first season of the show, now known as 'AHS: Murder House.'
Unfortunately, the home's current owners don't seem to be fans of the anthology series — they apparently purchased the haunted house in 2015 without knowing about its starring role in the lurid TV drama. (The quick recap: a seemingly wholesome family moves into a house populated by violent ghosts. Pulpy, campy horror ensues.)
Now, Dr. Ernst von Schwarz and Angela Oakenfold, the couple who purchased the classic Victorian located in LA's Olympic Park neighborhood, are suing the real estate agents who brokered the deal. According to The Real Deal, the home's involvement in the show was never disclosed during the process of sealing the $3.2 million sale.
The homeowners were doubtless drawn to the historic house, built in 1902, by the Tiffany stained glass and Italian brickwork, but now complain that the house is a magnet for AHS fans, calling it a “macabre tourist attraction,” plagued by "weekly" attempted break-ins and frequent trespassers.
What's more, they've have had their own share of supernatural encounters on the property. Though it isn't noted in their legal complaint, their lawyer Doug Vanderpool tells The Real Deal that, in addition to earthly vandals, the home is also haunted by two ghosts.
